New “Swiss Antibiotic Resistance Report 2024” (SARR 2024)

  20 November 2024

According to the recently released “Swiss Antibiotic Resistance Report 2024” (SARR 2024), the usage of antibiotics is still on the decline, especially in veterinary care. The study also emphasizes the necessity of additional work to guarantee the proper use of antibiotics and to fight resistance. Implementing the Swiss Strategy on Antibiotic Resistance (StAR) by the federal offices in charge of public health (FOPH), food safety and veterinary affairs (FSVO), agriculture (FOAG), and the environment (FOEN) requires close monitoring of antibiotic use and the emergence of resistance in humans, farm and companion animals, and the environment.
